Carter Hart Leaves Flyers Practice, Update On Condition

Carter Hart left Flyers practice with what are deemed to be back spasms.

The Philadelphia Flyers are the latest team to join the list of franchises who have a player or two on the mysterious “unfit to play” list.

Flyers goaltender Carter Hart exited Tuesday’s practice a little early, and of course, the team can’t say why, other than to note he was billed as “unfit” and not on the ice. And, without a clearer picture as to what’s going on, this is concerning news.

The latest is comes from John Clark of NBC Philly who writes, ““Carter Hart had some minor back spasms and it locked up a little during skate today. Nothing major or Covid related. I would think he’d back on the ice in a day or two”

Hart is pegged to be the Flyers started in net for the playoffs and the 21-year-old netminder has earned himself high praise for the way he’s taken the net and become a special goaltender in the NHL. So, when Hart left partway through the first half of Tuesday morning’s scrimmage, and did not come back on the ice for the second, fans and media have feared the worst.

Too Early To Assume the Worst

It’s far too early to know if this is a serious issue or not and because of the NHL’s strict protocols, clarity may not be around the corner. It’s the unknown that has most fans talking.

Hart did not speak with media after the skate (standard so far for players who have had something happen) and teammate Kevin Hayes explained that he couldn’t say anything. All he could say was that it’s not a huge issue if a player misses a bit of time in camp. In fact, everyone notes that nothing seemed out of the ordinary and both Hayes and Shayne Gostisbehere noted they didn’t realize he left.

Worst case scenario, the has Brian Elliott if Hart misses time.
