Canucks Lose Brock Boeser for Eight Weeks, Explains Toffoli Trade

Vancouver Canucks GM Jim Benning delivered some extremely bad news to Canucks fans. He explained that Brock Boeser will be out for eight weeks.

Today while talking to reporters about the Tyler Toffoli acquisition, Vancouver Canucks GM Jim Benning delivered some extremely bad news to Canucks fans. He explained that Brock Boeser will be out for eight weeks.

What was thought to be a mild injury turned out to be much more serious than originally expected. This puts Boeser at risk of missing the rest of the NHL regular season.

Benning also added that he will not require surgery, which is the good news in all of this.

When asked about where he believed the Canucks were now at with Boeser out, Benning said, “I want to compete down the stretch here for a playoff spot. Making this trade [Toffoli], that’s the message I wanted to send to our group going down the stretch here.” Some will argue this is not a great look if the Canucks are of the mentality they can mortgage the future just to make playoffs. This comes from people who suggested the Canucks traded for Toffoli and gave up some pretty good assets to do so.

Others might argue with the rash of injuries hitting other teams the Canucks are competing against, adding was a smart idea.

Benning said Josh Leivo is also out for the year, although he could be back for post-season play.
