We reported yesterday that the Calgary Flames were working on a deal for former Oilers forward Tobias Rieder. It appears that deal is official.
According to John Matisz of The Score (Twitter link) and PuckPedia (Twitter link), the Flames and Tobias Rieder have reached a deal, a one-year, two-way deal with the latter adding that the winger will receive a guaranteed $400K while his salary in the NHL will be the league minimum $700K.
Rieder is coming off an incredibly disappointing season with the Oilers and was working to stay in the NHL. This deal doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll see a ton of NHL time, but he’ll have a chance, has played well in preseason and will be compensated well if he’s in the AHL for any significant length of time.
Rieder earned this contract coming off of a PTO with the Flames.
