Blues Sign Robert Thomas to 8-Year Extension

The St. Louis Blues have signed Robert Thomas to an eight-year extension worth $8 million per season.

The St. Louis Blues take care of a major piece of business just prior to the opening of free agent frenzy by inking forward Robert Thomas to an eight-year contract extension. The deal is reportedly worth $64 million and is the max term the Blues could give.

Thomas is one of the NHL’s best passers, this is a big bet after Thomas had an excellent break-out season. He scored 20 goals and had 77 points in 72 games this past season. It was a huge jump over his next-closest season of 42 points in 2019-20. If he continues his upward trend, this could wind up being a fair deal that has the potential to look even better.

Thomas is best known for his intelligence as a two-way center, and it began to bear fruit this past season and his ice time has jumped considerably over the past few seasons.

Thomas, is a Blues’ first-round pick from the OHL’s London Knights. He was selected 20th overall in 2017. He does have a history of injuries that could be concerning considering the length of this deal.
