Fact #5: Children Were Involved
During Saturday’s wedding at St. George’s Chapel, as always hundreds of celebrity and political guests were present. And, obviously, millions of people tuned in around the world. When Meghan walked down the aisle, Prince Charles accompanied her. But, she was also accompanied by 10 young pageboys and bridesmaids. Among these children were Prince George (4-years-old) and Princess Charlotte (3-years-old) children of Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge (Kate).
Fact #6: The Dress was a Symbol
Meghan Markle’s dress was created by British designer Clare Waight Keller. It was sleek, simple, white, and made of silk. People seemed to love the fact that it was not royal fantasy or fairy tale. Meghan looked more like a woman and less like a princess. Those who know such things saw it as a statement that placed the woman (in this couple) front and center with the man, and represented Markle’s independence.
Fact #7: Harry Recognized Family
Harry’s best man was Prince William. And, as his father Prince Charles and Meghan approached the altar, Harry said: ‘‘Thank you, Pa.’’
Fact #8: The Wedding Invited Comedy
Cord Hosenbeck and Tish Cattigan (Will Ferrell and Molly Shannon), formerly of Saturday Night Live, did their own coverage of the Royal Wedding from London for HBO. [Note: this is worth watching for those who enjoy such comedy.]
