“We Are Going to See Some Fireworks with Jason Robertson in Dallas”

With the Leo Carlsson contract and the Connor Bedard deal, what does that mean for Jason Robertson and the Dallas Stars? NHL writer Dan Kingerski writes, “That sound you hear is a half dozen agents yelling, “Sh*t!” at seeing Bedard accept $15 million AAV.”

In Dallas, Robertson has been holding out on signing, squashing trades, and waiting for the Stars to meet his number, which they are unwilling to do. Things are only getting messier as other players sign for incredible amounts of money, essentially showing Robertson he’s right to ask for as much as he can get.

This is going to get interesting.

@RandomHockeyGuy on X wrote, “I think we are going to see some fireworks with Jason Robertson in Dallas by the end of the week. I can’t see him being awarded less than 15M AAV, and I can’t see Dallas gutting their roster to try and fit that in. I think we see a trade near the end of the week.”

That prompted Kingerski to respond, “Can’t see $15 million, but movement, yes.
Robo wanted $14 mil. Reportedly, some teammates were giving him some flak. You’re right, we’re coming to the end of this saga….”

What Happens if Robertson Doesn’t Sign in Dallas?

The Fourth Period’s David Pagnotta noted everybody’s being very quiet and tight-lipped with…what’s going on there. If a deal is worked out and an extension is signed, “it’ll give them an opportunity to maybe rekindle the relationship a little bit; I think there are some rough feelings… on both sides.” If not, teams like Pittsburgh and others have poked around on acquiring him. Josh Yohe of The Athletic recently noted that the Penguins are still very much open to acquiring Robertson and that they believe there is a real chance he would agree to play in Pittsburgh.
