Vancouver Forces Game 7 Against the Golden Knights on Friday

Thatcher Demko stopped 48 shots in securing his first career playoff shutout, forcing a Game 7 against the Vegas Golden Knights.

For those that wanted to see what would happen in a Game 7 situation, the NHL will offer three elimination games this weekend that will hold the fate all every team in the balance.

Among them, the Vancouver Canucks will try to move on and come back from a 3-1 deficit. What’s incredible, is that they’re pulling it off without starting goaltender Jacob Markstom.

On the back of a wonderful performance by Thatcher Demko, the Canucks are still in it. He stopped 48 shots in securing his first career playoff shutout, forcing a Game 7 against the Vegas Golden Knights. Demko’s performance set a record for most saves in a shutout by a rookie in a playoff game.

He’s also the first rookie goalie to win each his first 2 career NHL playoff starts when his team was facing elimination since Jacques Plante in 1953.

Next Up For Canucks

Vancouver will now play again Friday with a chance to put away the Golden Knights and move on to the Western Conference Finals.

This was the game the team was rumored to have lobbied to move nights because they think it was right to play back-to-back games, including Game 7 in less than 24 hours. The game has been schedule for 9 pm Eastern time.
