Update: Kraken Jump In to Land Bobby McMann from Maple Leafs

It sounded like Bobby McMann would be headed to the Colorado Avalanche, but we’ve now learned that the Seattle Kraken swooped in and won the sweepstakes.

The deal will officially send McMann from the Toronto Maple Leafs to Seattle in exchange for a second-round pick in 2027 and a fourth-round pick in 2026.

Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman broke news that the Kraken were the landing spot before Frank Seravalli shared full details of the deal in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

“Sources say #SeaKraken acquired Bobby McMann from #LeafsForever in exchange for a 2nd in 2027 and a 4th in 2026.,”

The 29-year-old McMann is a pending UFA in the second and final year of the two-year, $2.7 million extension he signed with the Maple Leafs in 2024. He’s having a very strong season, with 32 points (19 goals, 13 assists) produced in 60 games played.

McMann is an ideal acquisition to bolster the Kraken top-nine as a true power forward who plays with speed and snarl while also proving to be a legitimate goal scorer, having tallied 15, 20, and 19 goals – so far – over his three career NHL seasons.

Seattle, who currently holds the final wildcard spot in the Western Conference, notably traded Mason Marchment to Columbus for a similar return of a 2026 fourth-round pick and a 2027 second-round pick. They now utilize those extra assets to land one of the top rental forwards on the market for their playoff push.

On the other hand, Toronto comes down from its original high asking price to accumulate some draft capital for an expiring contract in McMann, whom they came to the realization they wouldn’t be able to re-sign.
