The Edmonton Oilers Have Recalled Ike Howard from AHL

The Edmonton Oilers have recalled Ike Howard from the AHL, likely as direct result of several injuries to the current roster.

The Edmonton Oilers released a statement on Sunday that they have recalled forward Ike Howard from the AHL. In their post, they noted, “The first-year pro has scored 22 goals & 25 assists in 45 games with Bakersfield this season.”

It’s likely this is a direct result of injuries to the Oilers roster. Leon Draisaitl and Zach Hyman remain out. Jason Dickinson is day-to-day with a lower-body injury, and Max Jones went down on Saturday after blocking a shot in the first period. He did not return to the game.

Howard will get a look to see how much that extra time with Bakersfield has helped his development, but it seems unlikely his stay with the Oilers will last much longer than any timeline the team has for returning players.
