According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, it appears former Ottawa Senators forward now-UFA Bobby Ryan will have his share of teams to choose from when it comes to free agency. Pagnotta reports that “Several teams have interest in now-UFA Bobby Ryan, I’m told. He’s not rushing a decision, but he has plenty of options and could narrow things down as the days progress.”

Pagnotta did not clarify which teams were interested but we do know that Ryan is hoping the Philadelpia Flyers are among them. Ryan recently spoke on the possibility of playing for the Flyers and told NBC Sports, “if the Flyers were to make an offer or extend a camp invite, they’d move high on my list because of all the connections.”
But, should that not happen, it sounds like Ryan won’t be shy of work.
The question will be when it’s best for him to sign. Should he jump on offers if multiple teams are calling on Friday? Or, is he better to wait and see what happens, thinking that a team that struck out in other areas might offer him more? Perhaps the Flyers aren’t interested at first, but come around after?
It’s a tricky decision and really hard to predict this season because money is so tight.
A Rebound Season for Ryan
Wherever he winds up, the NHL and most of the fans are rooting for him. This is a guy who’s battling back after some trying time and substance abuse issues and in the right situation could still be quite a player.
If he signs for cheap but picks the right situation, he could explode on offense and one team is going to be very grateful he chose them.
