Rangers Add Eeli Tolvanen on Low-Risk One-Year Deal

The New York Rangers have added another proven NHL forward to their revamped roster, signing Eeli Tolvanen to a one-year, $1.5 million contract.

The 27-year-old winger spent last season with the Seattle Kraken, recording 12 goals and 24 assists for 36 points in 78 games. While his goal total represented a step back from the 23 he scored in 2024-25, Tolvanen has now produced at least 35 points in three consecutive seasons.

Rangers Get More Middle-Six Depth

At $1.5 million, there is very little risk attached to the deal for New York. Tolvanen gives the Rangers another experienced option for their middle six who can contribute offensively while bringing a physical element.

Tolvanen finished second on Seattle with 187 hits last season and also contributed on special teams. He had 14 power-play points and logged more than 80 minutes shorthanded, giving the Rangers some additional versatility.

The former 30th-overall pick has accumulated 92 goals and 190 points across 423 NHL games with the Nashville Predators and Kraken. He also represented Finland at the 2026 Winter Olympics, recording three points in five games while helping his country capture bronze.

Another Piece of Rangers’ Busy Offseason

Tolvanen becomes the latest addition in what has been an aggressive offseason for the Rangers. New York has also added forwards Pavel Dorofeyev, Oliver Bjorkstrand and Joe Veleno, while Sean Durzi and Marcus Pettersson were brought in to reshape the defence.

Tolvanen could prove to be one of the better value additions of the group. He has shown 20-goal upside, can play in multiple situations and doesn’t require a long-term commitment.

For a Rangers team looking to get back into the playoff picture in 2026-27, adding an established middle-six winger for just $1.5 million is a worthwhile gamble.
