Rangers Resume Trade Talks Involving Vincent Trocheck

Vincent Trocheck trade talks have resumed as the Rangers seek stronger offers. Discover the latest updates now.

According to NHL insider Chris Johnston, the New York Rangers have reopened trade talks involving Vincent Trocheck. Having put previous conversations on pause and hoping that more teams would show interest during the summer, GM Chris Drury is now revisiting talks and starting new ones.

Johnston writes:

“The veteran center spent most of the season at or near the top of our trade board and remains there now. After scratching Trocheck for roster management purposes prior to the trade deadline in March, the Rangers opted to hold on to him in anticipation of stronger offers in the summer. Those conversations have since resumed.”

He adds that Trocheck remains an appealing target for teams looking to add a solid center for their top six. He also offers an upgrade for many teams as a faceoff man and penalty killer, “who can handle heavy, difficult minutes.” He adds, “The fact that he’s an Olympic champion doesn’t hurt either.”

There are a few teams that could use a center. The Los Angeles Kings are losing Anze Kopitar. The Minnesota Wild have been looking for a top-six center for some time. And, just recently, TSN’s Darren Dreger reported that the Toronto Maple Leafs would be intrigued.

Dreger said, “We know the New York Rangers are trying to get off the contract of Vincent Trocheck, and Toronto is among the teams that have some interest for sure.” Trocheck’s preference has been to “stay east” if a trade happened. There’s a good chance Toronto is not on his 12-team no-trade list.”
