The Nashville Predators added a depth piece on Monday, signing forward Brad Richardson to a one-year deal worth $1 million. The 35-year-old veteran has played 15 NHL seasons and won the 2012 Stanley Cup as a member of the Los Angeles Kings. This past season, he notched 11 points (6g-5a) in 59 games with the Arizona Coyotes.
Over the course of his 808-game NHL career, Richardson has played for a number of teams. He made stops in Colorado, Los Angeles, Vancouver and Arizona. It was with the Coyotes where he served as an alternate captain his last three years.
It seemed clear with the Coyotes’ signing of center Johan Larsson, that the team was moving on from Richardson. The Coyotes loss is Nashville’s gain as he’s tenacious on defense, can play on the penalty kill and is good on face-offs.
