Crosby Responds to Trade Rumors out of Pittsburgh

Sidney Crosby has finally addressed trade rumors. What does he think about talk he could be moved by the Penguins?

A number of media and news outlets have been discussing what happens next in Pittsburgh as the Penguins bring aboard new management. The focus of much of the talk has centered around what the team will do with veterans like Sidney Crosby, with TSN’s Darren Dreger stirring the pot by suggesting he could see a scenario where the Penguins and Crosby talk about an eventual trade.

The rumors have heated up to the point that many outlets are suggesting trade scenarios and teams that might have interest, with the Colorado Avalanche, Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers, among others “apparently” in the mix. The talk has gotten so loud, Crosby himself has finally decided to comment on the chatter.

Chris Adamski is reporting with the Tribune Review that Crosby has said, “Nothing’s changed,” when talking about his stance on where he sits with the Penguins organization. The elite but aging center added, “That’s definitely kinda a new subject that I have to deal with and hear and little bit, but I love playing here and this is where I would love to play for the rest of my career.”

While this won’t change Dreger’s report that the Penguins and Crosby could put their heads together on a deal that could help the organization usher in a new era, it does give fans at least some indication as to what Crosby thinks about all of this.

No one has actually reported that Crosby would like to be moved, so that was never in question. Instead, the suggestions were that Crosby would be open to helping his team get younger pieces for a rebuild if it helped and he could potentially move to a contender. His comments didn’t address that.

Crosby Chatter Will Continue

In the end, trade talk will likely continue to surround Crosby, especially if the team does not contend this season. Brian Burke has already noted that tough decisions are ahead for this organization and that could include seeing if Crosby would be open to a move, even if he wants to retire in a Penguins jersey.
