The Pittsburgh Penguins are making significant moves to solidify their roster for the upcoming season. In addition to the long-term deals announced for goaltender Tristan Jarry and defenseman Ryan Graves, the team has now signed goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic to a one-year contract worth $1.5 million. They also inked former Toronto Maple Leafs forward Noel Acciari to a contract.
The contract for Jarry spans five years with an average annual value (AAV) of $5.375 million, ensuring the Penguins have their netminder locked in for the foreseeable future. Jarry, who reached the milestone of 100 career wins in just 170 games, had an impressive season in 2021-22, setting personal bests in games played, wins, goals-against average, and shutouts.
Defenseman Ryan Graves joins the Penguins from the New Jersey Devils, signing a six-year contract worth $27 million, with an AAV of $4.5 million. The addition of Graves brings defensive stability to the team, adding his size and defensive prowess to their blue line. As per Darrren Dreger, “Graves deal in Pitt. $27M over 6 years. $12M in SB. Limited no trade 12 teams first 2 years and 8 teams last 4 years.”
Furthermore, the Penguins have also made a move in acquiring forward Noel Acciari from the Toronto Maple Leafs. According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, Acciari has signed a three-year contract with an AAV of $2 million. The veteran forward brings depth and physicality to the Penguins’ lineup.
These signings demonstrate the Penguins’ commitment to building a competitive team for the upcoming season. With a mix of experienced players and emerging talents, Pittsburgh aims to remain a formidable force in the NHL.
As the offseason progresses, fans can anticipate further roster developments as the Penguins continue to shape their lineup and prepare for the challenges ahead.
