Oilers Lose Another Forward to an Injury, No Timeline for Return

The Edmonton Oilers have lost another player to injury as Trent Frederic is out with no return timeline.

The Edmonton Oilers have lost another forward to an injury. According to head coach Kris Knoblauch, following Friday’s practice, he revealed that Trent Frederic is out and there is no timeline on his return. This is more unfortunate news for the Oilers, who have already lost Leon Draisaitl and Colton Dach to injuries.

The Oilers’ bottom-six grinder was on pace for a career low in points, but he was finally starting to round his game into form. There was a bit of a spark in his play since the team returned from the Olympic break, and he seemed more engaged and willing to get under the skin of his opponents.

On Thursday, the coach was asked if there was an update on Frederic, and he didn’t have one. The news wasn’t much more detailed on Friday, only to note that there was an injury.

If the injury proves serious, it would be a significant blow to both the player and the Oilers, who have leaned on his size and renewed effectiveness in recent weeks.

The Oilers will take on the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday in their final game of this current homestand. It seems unlikely he will be in the lineup.
