Oilers Issue Qualifying Offers To Four Players
The Edmonton Oilers issued qualifying offers to four players ahead of NHL free agency on Wednesday.
There’s a bit of activity from the Edmonton Oilers post-NHL Draft as June comes to a close. On Monday afternoon, the Oilers issued qualifying offers to pending restricted free agents Colton Dach, Robby Jarventie, Owen Michaels, and Spencer Stastney.
The names that saw the most time in Edmonton’s lineup in 25-26, Dach and Stastney, both came over to the Oilers in midseason trades. Stastney was acquired by the Oilers from the Nashville Predators this past December, and in 36 games with Edmonton, he recorded one point. He did not suit up for the Oilers in their opening-round playoff series against the Anaheim Ducks.
Dach would be acquired from the Chicago Blackhawks and would move to the Oilers along with Jason Dickinson ahead of the NHL Trade Deadline. In eight regular-season games, Dach would record four points while playing in five playoff games and recording a point.
This past season, Robbie Jarventie played in three games for the Oilers but finished fifth in scoring for the Bakersfield Condors in the AHL, putting up 47 points in 61 games. Jarventie signed a deal in Switzerland in May, but the Oilers will retain his NHL rights.
Owen Michaels was signed by the Oilers in April on a one-year entry-level deal after putting up 26 points for Western Michigan University of the NCAA.

The Oilers opted not to qualify minor leaguers Matvey Petrov and Josh Bloom, and both will become unrestricted free agents. While Bloom saw limited time in Bakersfield, only playing in three games last season, Petrov was thought of as someone who could eventually blossom in the Edmonton organization, but struggled to find his way, scoring just 23 goals in three years in the AHL.
The qualifying moves could only be the start of more moves to come, with free agency opening on July 1st. Adam Henrique, Max Jones, Kasperi Kapanen, Curtis Lazar, Jack Roslovic, and Connor Ingram will all become unrestricted free agents on Wednesday.
