NHL’s ‘Hometown Remix’ Jerseys Could Give Oilers a Fresh Look
The NHL is preparing to introduce another league-wide collection of alternate uniforms, and the Edmonton Oilers will be among the teams receiving a fresh look.
The NHL and Fanatics announced that all 32 teams will debut new “Hometown Remix” uniforms during the 2026-27 season. According to the league, the special-edition collection will uniquely celebrate the fans, city and local culture of each organization.
The program will feature authentic and replica jerseys, along with a broader collection of apparel and headwear. Additional information, including the designs and release dates, is expected to be announced shortly after the season begins.
Plenty of Possibilities for the Oilers
It will be interesting to see how Fanatics incorporates Edmonton’s identity into the Oilers’ design. The organization has plenty of uniform history from which to draw, including its original World Hockey Association-inspired colours, the navy and copper era and the orange-heavy uniforms worn during Connor McDavid’s early NHL seasons.
The Oilers returned to their original royal blue and orange colours as their primary uniforms in 2022-23. Because those jerseys remain popular, the Hometown Remix program gives the organization an opportunity to experiment without changing its primary look.
A modern interpretation of the navy and copper design would likely appeal to supporters who grew up watching the team during the late 1990s and early 2000s. Fanatics could also revisit the Todd McFarlane-designed oil-drop jersey, which remains one of the most distinctive alternate uniforms in franchise history.

There is also the possibility of something completely different that incorporates Edmonton landmarks, the North Saskatchewan River, ICE District or other elements connected to the city. However, creating a jersey that genuinely reflects local culture without making the design overly complicated will require a careful balance.
Following the Reverse Retro Collections
The Hometown Remix collection will be the first 32-team special-edition uniform program designed and developed by Fanatics since it became the NHL’s official on-ice uniform provider in 2024.
Adidas and the NHL previously released two versions of the Reverse Retro collection during the 2020-21 and 2022-23 seasons. Edmonton’s second Reverse Retro jersey featured a navy base and an orange oil-drop crest, presenting an updated version of the McFarlane design.
Until the uniforms are officially revealed, Oilers fans will be left debating which part of the franchise’s history should inspire its newest jersey. With several memorable looks available, Fanatics will have no shortage of directions to explore.
