Oilers Make New Nickname for Dach and Frederic Official

Find out why Edmonton Oilers head coach has named the duo of Trent Frederic and Colton Dach the Bash Brothers.

Edmonton Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch has given a name to his heavy tandem of Trent Frederic and Colton Dach, calling the pairing of forwards the “Bash Brothers”. After practice on Sunday, Knoblauch was asked about the two players feeding off each other, and it was clear he intended to keep the two together.

“Oh yes, the Bash Brothers—since we put them together, they’ve had some chemistry. They’ve had numerous looks and have played with Dickinson, Samanski, and some other guys periodically, but we’ll see those two together again.”

Knoblauch likes the way the two complement each other.

“I think they really feed off each other and play a simple game. You saw the other night—getting in on the forecheck, having some big hits. They’re both big bodies, not much flash in their game, but they’re honest and hard-working. Their size and physicality make the other team apprehensive.”

He added their job is simple and he’s hoping they keep it that way. “As long as our defense can get the puck to the net, that’s where those two guys should be going.”

Expect Frederic and Dach to be a handful for the Anaheim Ducks, who themselves have a big defense core. If the fourth line can wreak havoc and chip in, that will give the Oilers a decisive advantage. “They’re not the easiest guys to tie up. I just think they both play a very similar game, and they complement each other by going out and doing it together.”
