In this episode, Brooke and Jim discuss the Ethan Bear trade that sent the defenseman from the Carolina Hurricanes to the Vancouver Canucks. Why did Vancouver make the deal and will it be good for Bear who needed a fresh start? Were the Toronto Maple Leafs in on trade discussions and what is going on there with a team that has struggled mightily? Finally, are the Chicago Blackhawks still planning to sell off most of their players despite winning a lot more hockey games than anyone might have expected?
Bear said he’s excited to be with the Canucks and grew up watching a lot of their games. It’s close to home and he’s happy to be coming back to Canada. He noted that he knows a few guys on the team and he’s hoping to bring some good energy to the team and turn things around.
As for the opportunity, he’s not sure what he’ll get and it’s been some time since he played. He’s looking forward to getting the chance to get into some games. He knows that the team didn’t get off to the start they wanted but he believes they can turn things around.
When asked about his game, he says he tries to play a strong two-way game and defend well.
