Maple Leafs Not Done Trading?

TSN’s Pierre LeBrun is reporting that the Toronto Maple Leafs and Carolina Hurricanes are still talking trade despite the Maple Leafs adding Jake Muzzin. Who are the Maple Leafs looking at? Is it Micheal Ferland as a power forward or do the Leafs have their eyes on another right-handed d-man?

Leafs Also Speaking With Gardiner’s Agent?

LeBrun also noted that Jake Gardiner’s agent, Pat Brisson has met with Leafs GM Kyle Dubas. Are the two sides talking contract? Is it possible the Leafs are able to extend Gardiner when it looked like he was almost a sure thing to leave the team after the season?

What’s the Word on Kevin Hayes?

Both Darren Dreger and Bob McKenzie seem to think Kevin Hayes will still be traded out of New York before the trade deadline. Dreger said on Montreal’s TSN 690 radio show that it’s possible the Rangers and Hayes could come to an agreement on an extension, but said, “Kevin Hayes, to me, should be a player that Minnesota or a team like Winnipeg should be looking at. I mean, just everything he brings, I think he’d fit nicely in that conference.”

What did McKenzie add to that? He thinks Hayes could fetch a very specific return.

Stone and Duchene Not Likely to Stay

On the latest TSN Hockey Bobcast,  McKenzie said, “My needle on Stone and Duchene is that they’re not going to sign in Ottawa and they’re going to be traded.” He believes that with Stone ready to receive at least $9 million-plus per season on the open market and Duchene at least $8 million per season, the Senators are more likely to trade their two stars.
