NHL Rumors: Kings, Red Wings, Rangers, Penguins, Senators, Devils
In today’s NHL rumors, we look at a number of players coming from different teams. What will the Rangers, Devils, Senators, Penguins, and Predators do today?
In today’s NHL rumors, we look at a number of players coming from different teams. Will the New York Rangers move Mats Zuccarello in the next day or two, are the Pittsburgh Penguins interested in him? What about the LA Kings who have Jeff Carter, could move Alec Martinez and Kyle Clifford? Are the Detroit Red Wings taking their time on Gustav Nyquist and Jimmy Howard? Finally, the New Jersey Devils are trying to move a goaltender and the Ottawa Senators still have Mark Stone and Ryan Dzingel on the way out.
Mats Zuccarello and Vladislav Namestnikov
Dan Kingerski of Pittsburgh Hockey Now is reporting that the Pittsburgh Penguins might have interested in both Mats Zuccarello and Vladislav Namestnikov out of the New York Rangers organization. One would be a rental and the other wouldn’t but if the Penguins were to land both, they would need to move some salary.

It might also require they move their first-round pick which it sounds like GM Jim Rutherford is hesitant to do. As it stands now, none of Kevin Hayes, Adam McQuaid or Mats Zuccarello will be in the lineup for the Rangers this afternoon. Namestnikov is playing which says he’s less likely to be dealt.
Interest in Jeff Carter Is Out There
Shawn Hutcheon tweeted the Boston Bruins are kicking tires on Jeff Carter out of Los Angeles while Jonathan Davis is hearing the Dallas Stars and Nashville Predators might also have interest.

Red Wings Taking Their Time
Ted Kulfan is reporting that Ken Holland of the Detroit Red Wings is slow playing the potential movement of both Jimmy Howard and Gustav Nyquist. Even though they are pending free agents, he may wait until the last minute of the deadline to do anything and he may not do anything at all if he doesn’t like what’s he’s offered in return.
It could be that Detroit ends up re-signing both players and the belief is Nyquist might come in at around $5-6 million per season.
There are also reports that while the Red Wings would like to move Thoams Vanek, there has been no interest from other teams on that front.
Ryan Dzingel to Go, Maybe Today
Darren Dreger wrote, “It’s Dzingel day in Ottawa. Senators will get and should get a quality return. Hard to say what it is…ranging for multiple picks to a top prospect. Boston and CBJ among the suitors.”
This comes after the Ottawa Sun’s Bruce Garrioch reported that Ryan Dzingel recently turned down a five-year extension offer worth more than $20 million.
Predators Only Willing to Do So Much
Larry Brooks is reporting the Nashville Predators want to get better, but not if it means moving Eeli Tolvanen for a short-term rental. The Preds have interest in Mats Zuccarello, but wouldn’t move Tolvainen for him. That means Zuccarello could wind up with a team like the Calgary Flames or Pittsburgh Penguins instead.
Devils Trying to Move Keith Kinkaid
Andy Strickland tweeted the Devils are trying to move goaltender Keith Kinkaid. They have no need for him with Cory Schneider in long-term and Mackenzie Blackwood in the system.
