In today’s NHL rumors report, there are updates out of New Jersey when it comes to the franchise’s negotiations with Taylor Hall, there is a question mark surrounding Michal Neuvirth in Toronto as the Maple Leafs play preseason games as the goaltender isn’t a part of them.
Taylor Hall Talking With Devils?
TSN’s Pierre LeBrun reports that Taylor Hall’s agent Darren Ferris is having preliminary discussions with the New Jersey Devils about a new contract. The talks are really just at the initial stages but the Devils aren’t concerned.
The team is speculated to be taking their time with this knowing that whether or not they feel forced to trade him because he won’t extend, his value in trade is around the same today as it will be at the trade deadline.
LeBrun says his gut feeling is that Hall stays in New Jersey. Should he, it will probably cost the Devils $11 million or more per season if Hall bounces back healthy from an injury-riddled season.

Michal Neuvirth on Verge of Being Cut by Maple Leafs?
Originally scheduled to be in the crease for the Maple Leafs on Monday night, the Toronto Maple Leafs played Monday’s game against the Montreal Canadiens without goaltender Michal Neuvirth. Michael Hutchinson got the start and went the distance in a 38-save shutout victory.
All Maple Leafs head coach Mike Babcock would say to reporters, including Kristen Shilton of TSN is that Neuvirth “wasn’t feeling up to playing”.
It is assumed Neuvirth is dealing with minor injuries but speculation is that missing critical time in net while he battled with potential backup Joseph Woll is not helping his chances of making the team which he’s trying to do on a professional tryout.
McDavid To Play Tuesday
It appears Connor McDavid will see his first preseason action on Tuesday as the Edmonton Oilers take on the Arizona Coyotes. The Oilers have been proceeding cautiously with their captain but word is he looks great and is itching to get into a game.
The Oilers will ice a lineup that could reflect what the opening night roster looks like.
