Washington Puts Smith-Pelly on Waivers
On Wednesday morning the Washington Capitals were reportedly placing Dmitrij Jaskin on waivers. He wasn’t. The team then put Devante Smith-Pelly on waivers instead.
In a surprising move, Washington #Capitals have waived Devante Smith-Pelly who had 7 goals and assist in the post season last year winning the organization’s first Stanley Cup. DSP only has 4 goals this season. #NHL pic.twitter.com/aSbfoVqRjV

Elliotte Friedman tweeted, “Todd Reirden said it was ‘an organizational decision’ to make the waiver switch. Indicated there are things going on behind the scenes. ‘There is lots going on right now.”
Why Smith-Pelly? Is there something ready to drop in Washington?
Taylor Hall to Edmonton Oilers?
Friedman was a guest on the 2 Mutts Podcast and said, if he were the Oilers GM, he would go after Taylor Hall in a heartbeat. That, of course, stirred up rumors.

Media On Matt Duchene
After news dropped the Ottawa Senators were pulling Matt Duchene from the lineup to protect him from injury before a trade could be made, the media started to give their two cents on what this meant as far as Duchene landing somewhere else.
So Matt Duchene has been told he’s not playing the next few games.
Deduct from that what you want.

Shawn Simpson of TSN 1200 tweeted, the Senators should try a sign and trade. Friedman said on Calgary’s Sportsnet 960, he believes Nashville and Columbus are the two biggest players.
Marcus Johansson Available out of New Jersey
Both Pierre LeBrun and Friedman have reported that Marcus Johansson is available out of New Jersey and he might be the steal of the trade deadline considering what he’ll fetch in return and his recent uptick in production. The Columbus Blue Jackets, Edmonton Oilers, San Jose Sharks, and Vancouver Canucks are listed as teams with interest.
What’s Up With Adam McQuaid?
Bob McKenzie stated that defenseman Adam McQuaid is likely to be moved by the New York Rangers. What are the Rangers looking for in return and who is the front-runner to acquire him?
