NHL Rumors: Devils, Bruins, Blue Jackets, and Patrik Laine?

With Monday’s NHL Trade Deadline finally upon hockey fans, there is plenty of news with some trades already in the books. Outside of Kevin Hayes and Keith Kinkaid being moved early in the day, there are plenty of players who could still be on the go.

With Monday’s NHL Trade Deadline finally upon hockey fans, there is plenty of news with some trades already in the books. Outside of Kevin Hayes and Keith Kinkaid being moved early in the day, there are plenty of players who could still be on the go.

What’s Up With Marcus Johansson?

The New Jersey Devils started out trade deadline day by moving goaltender Keith Kinkaid to the Columbus Blue Jackets. Darren Dreger reported that he believes Marcus Johansson might be next and the Devils are looking for a second-round pick.

One team that might have an interest is the Boston Bruins but that’s an interesting option considering Johansson’s history with Brad Marchand. Johansson might put a stop to that trade.

A side note to all of this is that Johansson left Devil’s practice early today due to what could be an injury.

Who are the Boston Bruins Going After?

The Boston Bruins are a team many are keeping an eye on. There is a feeling they should do more, they were in on a number of players that went to other destinations and Darren Dreger tweets to watch them today. The Bruins are in on Mark Stone, Wayne Simmonds, and Tyler Toffoli.

Blue Jackets Interested in Niklas Kronwall

The Columbus Blue Jackets have already added Matt Duchene, Ryan Dzingel and goaltender Keith Kinkaid. They may not be done yet. Aaron Portzline of The Athletic reports the Blue Jackets are showing interest in Niklas Kronwall out of Detroit.

Most don’t believe Kronwall wants to leave Detroit and the team has not asked him to waive his limited no-trade clause but he has said in the past, if asked by GM Ken Holland, he would consider it.

Flyers Moving Anything Besides Simmonds?

Craig Custance of The Athletic reports both winger Michael Raffl and goalie Brian Elliott are also garnering interest in Philadelphia. It’s not just Wayne Simmonds the Flyers might take action on. That said, Simmonds was not part of the Flyers practice because the consensus is he’ll be moved.

Would the Winnipeg Jets Really Move Patrick Laine?

In perhaps the strangest bit of reporting today, Brian Lawton suggested the Winnipeg Jets might be willing to move, of all people, Patrik Laine. That seems like a crazy idea, but he reports there were plenty of calls to Winnipeg about all things trade deadline and when Laine’s name came up, Winnipeg didn’t hang up the phone.

The Maple Leafs Plan?

Mark Zwolinski of the Toronto Star is reporting the Toronto Maple Leafs have been linked to forwards Chris Kreider and Luke Glendening, and defenseman Adam McQuaid.

Toronto made their big moves far ahead of trade deadline day when they acquired Jake Muzzin. If the Maple Leafs make a move, they might consider adding a little toughness and are eyeing another defender. There are also rumors the Leafs have talked to the Kings about Kyle Clifford and Philadelphia about Wayne Simmonds.

Cody Ceci Getting Some Interest

The Ottawa Senators pulled Cody Ceci out of the Senators lineup he is the one player, outside of Mark Stone, who is getting interest out of Ottawa. The Edmonton Oilers were interested, but according to sources aren’t any longer.

Stars Looking at Replacing Zuccarello?

After Mats Zuccarello went down with a broken arm on Sunday, the Dallas Stars are now in an interesting spot to have to do something again on Monday. This might be one of the teams interested in Marcus Johansson but speculation is that GM Jim Nill is certainly working the phones.
