The Ottawan Senators shipped Mike Hoffman out of Ottawa on Tuesday after speculation he was on the trade block and news that he was in the middle of a potentially hazardous situation as someone who may or may not have known about the cyberbullying issues between his girlfriend and Erik Karlsson’s wife.

The Sharks then turned and flipped Hoffman to the Florida Panthers.
The Senators got significantly less in return for Hoffman than they would have liked because of the controversy surrounding him and his fiance. But, he has the potential to add top-six scoring to the Panthers roster. Hoffman has scored 107 goals and 230 points in 342 games. The Senators acquired Boedker in the deal. He’s not nearly at the level Hoffman is in terms of offensive production.
Still, despite seemingly winning the trade, the Sharks moved Hoffman.

What comes next is a potential trade including Erik Karlsson as rumors that the Senators are talking to the Vegas Golden Knights about a trade have begun to surface. In a matter of a few days, the Senators may completely change the outlook of their team and this week will be a busy time in the NHL.
