Maple Leafs’ Goalie Jack Campbell Out Two Weeks with Rib Injury

The Toronto Maple Leafs’ starting goalie Jack Campbell is now reported to be out for two weeks with an injury. What are the specifics?

In breaking news this morning, it was reported that goalie Jack Campbell is injured. He will be out of the team’s line-up for a minimum of two weeks with a rib injury. The Toronto Maple Leafs’ organization made that announcement this morning.

As per the announcement, the team reported that goalie Erik Kallgren had been recalled from the AHL’s Toronto Marlies on an emergency basis.

This Announcement About Campbell’s Injury Was a Surprise

The announcement of the 30-year old Campbell’s injury came as a surprise. He’d played a full 60 minutes in the most-recent Maple Leafs’ last game against the Seattle Kraken just two days ago. He didn’t look as sharp during that game. In truth, he’d played much better at the beginning of the season. However, he made 26 saves and was awarded the victory.

On the season, Campbell’s played 40 games and has put together a record of 24-9-4, a goals-against-average of 2.65, and a save percentage of .914.

What Does Erik Kallgren Bring to the Team?

Word that I’ve had about Kallgren’s time with the Marlies is that he’s played really well. The 25-year-old native of Sweden has played 26 games with the Marlies on the season. His record is 15-8-1, with a goals-against-average of 3.02, and a save percentage of .904.

Kallgren was a seventh round (183rd overall) choice of the Arizona Coyotes during the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
