John Cena To Star In Dwayne Johnson’s New Film

John Cena’s career in Hollywood has been skyrocketing as of late. He can be currently seen in theaters as part of the film Blockers and he’s got a few other projects in the works including the Transformers prequel Bumblebee and The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle starring Robert Downey Jr. But, perhaps he’s landed the biggest role of his Hollywood career thus far as he’s been pegged to star in the new film The Janson Directive which will be produced by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s production company Seven Bucks Productions.

The film will star Cena who plays former Navy SEAL and prisoner of war, Paul Janson Janson works as a corporate security consultant and is on an assignment to rescue a VIP when things go terribly haywire. Famous author Robert Ludlum is responsible for the Janson character. He’s the same writer who brought the world of Jason Bourne and the Bourne series to life.

Cena wasn’t the original choice for the film, however. The Rock himself was set to star in the film until his other Hollywood commitments became too much to make playing the main character in this potential film franchise possible. But, Johnson has stepped aside and was instrumental in finding his replacement. He said, “Congrats to my good bud John Cena on landing the lead role for our movie, THE JANSON DIRECTIVE. A project that myself, @sevenbucksprod, our production partners and Universal Studios have been developing for years now. Congrats man and I’m excited to go on this journey with you. Thank you for your commitment to the role and remember, as your producer if you screw up, I’m coming to set and droppin’ the People’s Elbow on ya. And you know first hand how devastating my elbow drops can be 😉💪🏾 Congrats my friend and let’s go make a good one.”

Universal Studios, who is partnering with the Rock on this project is also happy with the choice of Cena in the leading role. They have been big fans of his work in his latest films and were interested in finding a project where he could lead a potential sequel or series of films.

Meanwhile, Cena is still trying to pull double-duty by actively participating in WWE events and contends that his becoming more successful in film is only good for the wrestling industry.
