Interesting Names Front and Center at Oilers Summer Party Get-Together

Lauren McDavid, Connor’s wife, put together a summer party meet-up for several of the Edmonton Oilers players and their significant others. McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Evan Bouchard, Isaac Howard, Matt Savoie, Colton Dach, Jason Dickinson and Ryan Shea were all together for a dinner and took a few photos to celebrate the occasion.

Apparently, it’s customary for Lauren to do this before and during the season. A creative organizer, what fans are really taking away from the photo is who was in attendance.

The Draisaitl, McDavid and Bouchard trio is a given. This is essentially the new core of the team. New signings like Ryan Shea being there says a lot. He’s quickly jumping into team activities and the leadership group is making him feel involved. Jason Dickinson signed a new extension, and we can expect he might be part of the new leadership group as well.

Colton Dach and Isaac Howard are the two players fans seem most excited about. For Howard, it’s a potential initiation into the core group, which could suggest he’s got a much bigger role next season. He was in and out of the NHL lineup last year, but could take a step in 2026-27. If McDavid and Draisaitl see him as an important piece, that’s good news for his development.

Savoie could be a top-six player all season. Perhaps he’s part of the top line with McDavid. Dach is, in many ways, the new heartbeat of the bottom six. His job is to create space and stir things up. That’s an important part of the team’s makeup, and elite players value those types of role players.

One thing to note is that nothing should be read into players who were not there. A lot of that likely has to do with availability and travel plans. Many of the players have younger families.
