Flames Players Most Likely To Make the Trade Deadline List
What are the names most likely to hit the trade block on the Calgary Flames ahead of the NHL Trade Deadline this season?
It’s that time of year again—no, not the holidays. NHL trade season is just around the corner, with less than three months to go until the 2025 Trade Deadline. As always, trade rumors are about to ramp up quickly.
The Calgary Flames are expected to be one of the most active teams in this year’s market. With a roster featuring several players likely to draw interest from playoff contenders, the Flames could play a significant role in shaping the postseason landscape. Here’s a look at the top three Flames most likely to be on the trading block.
Dan Vladar
The Colorado Avalanche paid a decent price to land MacKenzie Blackwood in a trade on Monday. It begs the question of what someone like Dan Vladar will be worth.
Vladar will be one of the top goalies available at the NHL Trade Deadline, and he’s been rock solid this season. Typically, a handful of teams are looking for another reliable backup to add to their roster. Vladar can provide that for a team while also carrying a very low AAV. The 27-year-old has a cap hit of just $2.2 million. The Flames may be unwilling to retain on that, but if they did. The asking price would likely increase from a mid-round pick to a second or third-rounder.
Andrei Kuzmenko
Next up is Andrei Kuzmenko, who could be a player that contenders are interested in. Unfortunately, the Flames will likely need to retain some of his cap hit. His AAV is $5.5 million, which is a big cap hit to take on as a contender. With that said, the Flames could get a decent return for him. Although he has struggled this season, he has had big scoring seasons in his career. Depending on what teams target him, he could find a nice home with a team to unlock his goal-scoring ability.
Nazem Kadri
Lastly, Nazem Kadri is expected to be on the trading block, and while many teams will likely express interest, one stands out as the perfect fit: the Toronto Maple Leafs. A return to Toronto, the organization that drafted him, would be a storybook reunion, potentially culminating in a Stanley Cup win.
However, if it’s not the Maple Leafs, any team looking to acquire Kadri will need to pay a hefty price. His $7 million cap hit over the next four years complicates matters for Calgary, but retaining salary is a realistic option. This move could pave the way for the Flames to rebuild effectively.

Valdar won’t be traded for anything less than a 2nd round pick.
