Dylan Larkin Expands Trade List to 10 Teams as Red Wings Talks Reportedly Pick Up
Dylan Larkin has given the Red Wings 10 teams he’d accept a trade to, and talks have reportedly picked up. Here’s the full list.
The Dylan Larkin situation in Detroit may be moving closer to a resolution. Following earlier reports that a Larkin trade might be imminent, a new report notes that he has expanded his trade list to 10 teams, which could really speed up the process.
According to Helene St. James, Larkin has given the Red Wings a list of 10 teams he would accept a trade to: the Florida Panthers, Minnesota Wild, Vegas Golden Knights, Dallas Stars, Washington Capitals, Carolina Hurricanes, Utah Mammoth, Tampa Bay Lightning, New Jersey Devils and Colorado Avalanche.
St. James wrote that it may take a multi-team trade to leave everyone satisfied, a sign of how complicated a deal could be with so many possible partners.
Larkin Deal Getting Close Or Just Giving the Red Wings Options?
The expanded list comes as conversations around a trade have reportedly gained steam. One report said talks had picked up heading into the weekend and that discussions had lately been somewhat rejuvenated, though that doesn’t mean a deal is close to done.

Earlier this week, ESPN’s John Buccigross said on the Frankly Hockey podcast, recorded Friday, Oct. 16, that he has information pointing to a blockbuster in Detroit. “I think there’s going to be a trade within seven to 10 days,” he said. When co-host Frank Seravalli asked if he meant Larkin, Buccigross said yes and added, “that’s coming.” That timeline points to a deal somewhere between Oct. 23 and Oct. 26.
Elliotte Friedman also weighed in, saying the Red Wings may be asking how long they want to let this drag on and whether they want to risk Larkin getting hurt in the meantime. He said the Connor Hellebuyck situation has likely created a sense of urgency in Detroit.
Neither Larkin nor the Red Wings have publicly commented on the list or a timeline.
Who Is Not on the List?
The interesting omission from this list is the Montreal Canadiens. Even though Larkin said great things about the Canadiens and their fans –after they chanted “We want Larkin!” — he still hasn’t added them to his expanded list. It can only be assumed that any hope the Canadiens have of adding him via trade have gone out the window.
