Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is a bonafide movie star, perhaps the biggest in Hollywood right now. With that in mind, it’s not surprising that he was sent the biggest deal of his Hollywood career when he was asked to sign on to be part of Jungle Cruise for Disney. The movie begins shooting on Monday and he posted an Instagram video discussing the moment.

Citing how nervous he was, Johnson mentioned this was a dream come true for him. Ever since he’d seen Pirates of the Carribean, he wanted to make a movie like this with Disney. He said, “Lil’ nervous signing the biggest contract of my career for Jungle Cruise. Think I had an out of body…”
Johnson has made some major blockbuster films in the last year with Jumanji raking in a ton of money, Rampage doing extremely well and Moana being a huge hit for Disney (likely part of the reason he was offered Jungle Cruise). The movie is set to be somewhere in the middle of an Indiana Jones meets Pirates of the Carribean and will also star Emily Blunt, Paul Giamatti, and Jack Whitehall. The film is based on Disneyland’s theme park ride and the plot involves a small riverboat of travelers heading through a jungle filled with dangerous animals and reptiles, but a little more than that too. Like supernatural stuff.
There’s no doubt this movie will be huge and the question will be, how many sequels can Disney and the Rock get out of it and how much more money does he stand to make? He’s already among the highest paid actors in the business and Jungle Cruise will simply pad his resume in that department.
Of course, all of this only matters if he can find a pen that works to actually sign the contract (see the video if you’re not sure what we’re talking about.)
