Crosby and Flyers Fan Have Classic Exchange After Penguins Captain Caught Red-Handed

Sidney Crosby’s embellishment controversy during Game 3 also offered up a funny exchange with a Flyers fan.

Sidney Crosby wasn’t happy about the officials calling him for embellishing, even though he totally did it. During Game 3 between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers, Crosby took a high stick to the face while in the faceoff dot. It was a penalty, but the Penguins’ captain went down like he got shot.

Even though it was an obvious embellishment, after the game, he told the media he didn’t understand how he got a penalty.

Crosby said:

“I don’t know, I mean it’s very clear that they’re looking for that. I don’t know how Rusty ends up with the extra out of all of that. I don’t know how I end up with the embellishment. Yeah, it’s hard to understand, but you’ve got to play through that.”

The Penguins and Crosby have not looked good in this opening series. The younger Flyers have taken it to the older Penguins and it appears Crosby and company are on the verge of being swept.

Some are arguing this is an embarrassing way for Crosby to go out. Resorting to those kinds of obvious dives and then saying he doesn’t understand why he gets called is ruing his legacy. Others have said this is the way Crosby has been for some time, he just finally got caught.

What say you? Was Crosby doing what he should have or always does? Or, was he way out of line, despite the fact that there was a high-stick infraction?

Then, there are others who vehemently disagree with the idea that Crosby is acting out in an attempt to sway favor or play his final cards. Head coach Dan Muse said after the game, “We don’t have a single embellishment all year. Sidney Crosby doesn’t have an embellishment in 21 seasons… I disagree on that strongly.”

There was even a hilarious moment caught on camera with a Flyers fan. Both the fan and Crosby were looking at the replay while Crosby was in the box. She turned and looked at him, shrugging as if to say, ‘You got caught.’ Crosby just smiled.
