TSN’s Frank Seravalli is reporting that he’s hearing from sources that the New York Islanders are acquiring Zach Parise from the Minnesota Wild for forward Andrew Ladd. This is a massive deal, if only because of the money involved in the trade.

This is a trade that completely comes out of left field and it will be interesting to see if either player can find a better fit with their careers, specifically Ladd with a move.

Ladd signed with the Islanders and wound up under-performing his contract and heading down to the AHL on a huge contract. He’s been playing with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

Meanwhile, Parise signed a massive deal in Minnesota alongside Ryan Suter. He makes over $7.5 million per season over the next five seasons following this one. He’s played fairly well in Minnesota over the past two seasons with 37 points in 61 games this season and 61 points in 74 games last season. Still, the money is huge.

It will reunite Parise with his former GM in Lou Lamoriello.

Michael Russo of The Athletic tweets that Parise is willing to waive his no-move clause if it does come together.
