Agent Responds to Zadorov Scratch by Bruins with Trade Tease to Maple Leafs
Nikita Zadorov’s agent fueled Maple Leafs buzz after the Bruins scratched him for discipline. Here’s what he said and how fans reacted.
It’s been a rough start to the season for the big defenseman, and Nikita Zadorov’s agent just made things more interesting. Dan Milstein has fueled Toronto Maple Leafs trade speculation after the Boston Bruins defenseman was made a healthy scratch on Saturday night.
Boston coach Marco Sturm sat Zadorov for disciplinary reasons, saying the big blueliner “needs to be better” when it comes to “his discipline on the ice.” The decision followed a double minor Zadorov took Friday night with Boston trailing Anaheim 2-1. He was penalized for roughing and an additional infraction on Frank Vatrano.
The benching drew attention on social media, where one fan told Milstein that his client “wouldn’t be treated like this in Toronto.” Milstein replied, “No, he would not.”
Known for being active on social media and engaging with fans, Milstein’s comments elevated things to a new level.
What Is Milstein Trying to Accomplish with Zadorov?
The response drew mixed reactions. Many fans, including Bruins supporters, said the agent was making too much of a one-game benching, especially with Boston off to a 7-2 start. Others said a message of accountability was warranted and that Milstein’s comment could backfire on his client.
Leafs fans took a different view. Several welcomed the idea of Zadorov in Toronto, with one pointing out that the team wanted him when he was in Calgary. Others joked that the Leafs “are no longer allowed to trade with the Bruins” and suggested the Leafs could use his physicality on a back end that has been among the oldest in the league.

Interesting Timing Considering Maple Leafs Trade Buzz
The timing is interesting for Toronto. Elliotte Friedman reported recently that the Leafs are looking to add a difference-maker on defense and are willing to pay a premium asset for one.
Whether Zadorov fits that description is up for debate. Fans pointed to his history, noting he is on his sixth team, and a scratch for discipline isn’t a trade request. Milstein’s comment may be nothing more than a reaction, but it has put Zadorov’s name into the Leafs’ rumor mix.
It’s also unclear how Zadorov feels about the situation. Clearly his agent is annoyed, but it’s unclear whether he’s speaking on behalf of the defenseman.
