Agent Hints Fleury Has Been Stabbed in the Back By Golden Knights

Allan Walsh posted a graphic photo of his Marc-Andre Fleury being stabbed in the back by the Golden Knights.

Sometimes an agent is trying to look out for his client by making comments that the player isn’t getting the best opportunities with the team they are currently with. It’s not an uncommon practice in an effort to up the value of a player, especially one that might be looking for a move to another franchise.

In the case of what Marc-Andre Fleury’s agent Allan Walsh posted Saturday on social media, the message he’s trying to send appears to be a whole lot more obvious. In fact, one has to wonder what the agenda is considering how graphic the photo and unnecessary the timing. It can’t hint at anything but unrest between Fleury and the Golden Knights organization.

Walsh posted a photo of his client trying to make a save for the Golden Knights, but with a massive sword going through his back. The message clearly seems to be hinting that the organization has stabbed Fleury in the back by playing Robin Lehner instead.

The photo is not just graphic but extremely unprofessional and it’s hard to imagine this sends anything but the message that Fleury is livid with the Golden Knights seemingly running with Lehner when he was the starting goalie just months ago. If Walsh did this without Fleury’s permission, one has to wonder what he’s thinking?

*Update: The photo and post have since been removed by Walsh, apparently at the request of Fleury who he says was just defending him.

The sword itself has the word DeBoer written on it as if to signify that the Golden Knights head coach is responsible for Fleury not getting the starts. And, regardless of the fact that Lehner has actually outplayed Fleury and won the right to be the go-to netminder, that Walsh would be so blunt about how he feels about the decision-making process of the coach and put his client in such an awkward spot is shocking.

What Are The Golden Knights Thinking About All This?

Elliotte Friedman posted that “Fleury remains with the Golden Knights and the team appears inclined to ignore his agent’s post.” It will be interesting to see if this post gets him in hot water with the organization.

As Friedman noted, “You don’t see this every day in the NHL.”
