A Tyler Ennis to Oilers Deal Close?

Are the Ottawa Senators close to trading Tyler Ennis to the Edmonton Oilers?

Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reports that the Ottawa Senators are expected to keep forward Tyler Ennis out of the lineup from Saturday’s game. There is buzz he’s potentially on the move in a trade that will come down before Monday’s deadline.

Teams will often remove players they’re about to trade for precautionary reasons and TSN’s Pierre LeBrun reports that Ennis is a candidate to be traded to the Edmonton Oilers. There are other teams potentially in the mix but Edmonton has been discussed in the same sentence as Ennis’ name for about three or four days now.

Ennis, 30, has 14 goals and 33 points this season which is his best since 2014-15.

While Mike Commodore isn’t exactly the most reliable of insiders and likes to have fun with this time of year more than anything else, he wrote on Twitter today, “Tyler Ennis…your time in the Nations Capital is up. #PackYourSh-t and get on the next flight home. The Oilers await.”

Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal wrote:

If Oilers are kicking tires on Sens’ Tyler Ennis for his speed and offence in a bottom six role (14 goals, 33 points) as a rental, it should be pointed out that Bob Green, who has a fair bit of sway as assistant director of amateur scouting, had Ennis in junior in Medicine Hat.

This is the second player Ottawa has pulled in as many days as TSN’s Darren Dreger also noted that the Senators were holding out forward Vladimir Namestnikov in preparation for a possible deal.
