A Few More Deals Trickling in Over the NHL Trade Deadline

There are a few deals coming out of the funnel as the NHL gets to the paperwork on the final deals of the day.

There are a few deals coming out of the funnel as the NHL gets to the paperwork on the final deals of the day. Below are a few of them:

Daniel Sprong Goes to Washington

There was talk the Washington Capitals may trade a defenseman before the trade deadline came and went. As expected, Frank Seravalli of TSN reports the team has sent Christian Djoos to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Daniel Sprong.

Two players that were once considered high-end prospects, perhaps this is a deal more about two players getting a chance of pace.

Brandon Davidson Goes to San Jose

After acquiring both Derek Forbort and Erik Gustafsson, the Calgary Flames have traded defenseman Brandon Davidson to the San Jose Sharks. The deal is for future considerations according to Ryan Leslie of Sportsnet.

Davidson is on an expiring contract and has played just seven games for the Flames this season. He’s likely going to be a question mark to get another NHL contract next season although he often tends to land on his feet.

Blue Jackets Acquire Devin Shore

It was rumored the Columbus Blue Jackets were adding Andreas Athansiou. It turned out not to be true and the Jackets said they were never really in those conversations. Instead, the team has added Devin Shore.

The Ducks will receive Sonny Milano in return according to Aaron Portzline of The Athletic.

Nick Cousins Goes to Vegas Golden Knights

The Golden Knights have also acquired Nick Cousins from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for a 2021 fourth-round pick.

Blackhawks Trade Nathan Noel for TJ Brennan

In a small deal, the Blackhawks and Flyers did a deal that sent Nathan Noel to the Flyers in exchange for defenseman TJ Brennan. Noel will report to the Blackhawks AHL club.

Ducks Get Matt Irwin For Korbinian Holzer

The Nashville Predators have acquired defenceman Korbinian Holzer from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange fore defenceman Matt Irwin and a pick. Irwin and Holzer are practically interchangeable sub-replacement defencemen.

Fans from both sides are looking at this trade as a loss, if that tells you anything.
