5 Most Expensive Hockey Cards Selling on eBay

Want to know the highest valued current hockey cards selling on eBay right now?

Selling on eBay is interesting. Sometimes a sports card unexpected just sells, and sometimes what you think might sell easily simply doesn’t. In my experience, eBay is a tough place to really make big money selling sports cards.

But then there are some high flyers – people who are collectors and who are looking for the unique card. And, unlike most of us, they have the money to spend on a sports card collection.

Just for interest sake, this post looks at the top 5 hockey cards – in terms of expensive – that are currently selling on eBay. When I say selling, I mean someone is going to buy them. They already have bids and might still go higher. People can list sports cards on eBay for any high price they wish, but selling them for a high price is another deal.

So, for May 21, 2018, these are the hockey cards that are fetching the most money.

#1: At $32,100.00 is a 2015-16 Upper Deck The Cup Connor McDavid Rookie Autograph patch /99 with a PSA 10 (Sold by PWCC auctions) Currently

Of Note:

  • This auction started at 99 cents, but quickly rose to $6000 with one bid.
  • The current highest bidder is obviously willing to go higher. This bidder already has bid $69,000.00, but retracted that bid when another bidder pulled out at $69,999.
  • There are more than 3 days left on the bidding – so it could go higher.
  • There are 71 bidders so far, and 275 people have this card on their watch list.
  • What makes this card so interesting is that it is a RC, an autograph, a game-worn patch, and a serial number out of /99 cards. [Can you imagine pulling this card out of a pack? Or, better yet, there are 98 more cards like this in the world. Can you imagine having one and watching this auction?

#2: At USD $15,000.00 is a 1966 Topps Bobby Orr Rookie Card #35, PSA 7.5 (sold also by PWCC auctions)

Of Note:

  • Again, this is a RC card of one of hockey’s greatest players.
  • It is a good card, but not in mint condition – PSA 7.5 and not 10.
  • Like the McDavid card above – it has more than 3 days left so it also could go higher in its bidding.
  • This card, too, started at 99 cents.

#3: At USD $7,200.00 is a 1966 Topps Bobby Orr Rookie Card #35, PSA 6.5 (sold also by PWCC auctions)

Of Note:

  • Again, this is a duplicate RC card of Bobby Orr – and interestingly PWCC auctions listed it at the same time as the other Bobby Orr card.
  • It is a good card, and even in less mint condition – this one is PSA 6.5 and not PSA 7.5 – the result is that the bidding is at half – .
  • Listed at the same time as the McDavid card above and the other Bobby Orr card – it has more than 3 days left so it also could go higher in its bidding.
  • This card, too, started at 99 cents.

#4: At USD $6,850.00 is a 1951 Parkhurst Maurice ‘Rocket’ Richard Rookie Card #4 with a PSA 8 (also sold by PWCC Auctions)

Of Note:

  • This is an old card – 67 years old. It is in good shape, but not perfectly mint – at PSA 8.
  • It is a RC of one of hockey’s legends – Maurice Rocket Richard.
  • It too started as 99 cents about the same time as the other auctions by PWCC.
  • This is a mini-card, smaller in stock than the others listed above. It has no information on the back – blank back.

#5: At USD $6.600.00 is a 2016-17 Upper Deck The Cup Auston Matthews Rookie Auto Patch /99 #180 PSA (Also sold by PWCC auctions)

Of Note:

  • This card is very much like the Connor McDavid card listed above. It is a year later, and a different player – Auston Matthews is obviously NOT Connor McDavid.
  • It has the four criteria that make it special: it is a Rookie Card, an autograph, a game worn patch, and is serial numbered.
  • It is in mint condition, at PSA 10.
  • Also, like the other high-end cards PWCC auctions started, there are more than 3 days left so this card could go higher.

Also Note that all these cards have been PSA (Professional Sports Authenticator) to be of a high standard. For anyone who has what they believe is a sports card that could be very valuable, this service will authenticate for buyers what that value is.
