Nurse’s bio says he was a strong marathoner and triathlete. In 1996, he won his age category in the 1996 Chicago Triathlon. However, this story cannot be corroborated. Is Nurse also a jokester?

#8: A Rookie NBA Coach, But a Winner Wherever He Goes.

Nurse’s Iowa Energy teams won division titles during the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons. After the 2010-11 D-League season, Nurse won the Coach of the Year Award when his Energy team had the best record in the league. In 2011-12, Nurse moved to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers – a Houston Rocket’s farm team – and Nurse won the D-League title there in 2012-13.

#9: A Modern-day NBA Thinker.

Gersson Rosas, Houston Rockets’ executive vice-president of basketball operations, was in charge of the Rio Grande Valley Vipers when Nurse was the coach there. Rosas noted that Nurse is a creative thinker who “sees where the NBA is going.” Nurse’s approach is creative, balanced, and he is reported to be a critical thinker who sees creative, non-traditional ways to solve problems.

Nurse is relatable to the players. He is calm, doesn’t panic, and makes good decisions under pressure. Perhaps, all that will be good for the Raptors, who could not seem to figure out LeBron James’ offensive moves.
