Wild Make Two Trades: Acquire Nick Foligno and Bobby Brink
The Minnesota Wild have acquired Nick Foligno and Bobby Brink after making other trades this week.
The Minnesota Wild have become the early leaders on Friday’s NHL trade deadline day. Making two moves, the team acquired forward Bobby Brink from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for defenseman David Jiricek. They later made a trade to land Nick Foligno from the Chicago Blackhawks.
The Brink deal was the first of the two. A 24-year-old right winger and Minnesota native (from Minnetonka), he’ll bring scoring depth—he had 13 goals and 26 points in 55 games this season with Philly. He’s seen as a middle-six addition who could help on the third line or move up, and he’s a pending RFA with a $1.5M cap hit.
There’s also a separate report that the Wild acquired forward Nick Foligno from the Chicago Blackhawks for future considerations. As Frank Seravalli reports, “Blackhawks only sought to do right by their captain. As they didn’t have any salary retainment slots left, Minnesota takes on a full cap $4.5 million cap hit.
The Wild appear to be adding veteran depth while reuniting the Foligno brothers.

GM Bill Guerin has been busy. He acquired defenseman Jeff Petry from the Florida Panthers on Thursday for a conditional seventh-round pick (upgradable to fifth based on playoff performance). Earlier in the week, they got forward Michael McCarron from the Nashville Predators for a 2028 second-round pick, plus claimed Robby Fabbri off waivers.
The deadline is at 3 p.m. ET today, so more could still happen, but this Brink deal is the big one involving Minnesota on March 6.
