Tyler Seguin Was Dealing With Multiple Injuries [Report]
The list of injuries that were reportedly plauging Dallas Stars forward Tyler Seguin is intense and explains why he was less productive.
There were murmurs that Dallas Stars forward Tyler Seguin might have been dealing with a few issues during the Stanley Cup playoffs, specifically the Final series where he didn’t score a goal. But, the amount of things Seguin was dealing with is apparently quite surprising.

According to a recent note by Sean Shapiro of The Athletic, he has tweeted that the report of Seguin’s multiple problems, “there will be some ‘sticker shock’ for everyone.”
Questions will then lead to whether or not coach Rick Bowness should have played him as often as he did and how it was Seguin put up 11 assists and 13 points in the playoffs, three assists of which came in the second-to-last game of the series against the Tampa Bay Lightning. That may never be answered but it should provide somewhat of an explanation as to why Seguin was less effective than many pundits suggested he should be.
Early speculation is that Seguin was dealing with wrist, hip, groin AND knee injuries during the playoffs. David Pagnotta of the Fourth Period notes, “He is being examined/evaluated this week to determine which areas may require surgery.” Shapiro said, “I know what’s out there and being reported, with injury stuff I’m not reporting/relying on anything until it’s official with this.”
All anyone really knows is that the list of injuries is long and that Seguin tried to play through a lot.
As for when the list of officially diagnosed issues are released, Stars Public Relations just updated local media that the team’s post-season availability will be about in a week or so. During that media avail, those official injury updates should be announced.
What Comes Next for the Stars?
Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman wrote that the Stars “will try to move one big salary” this offseason to get their cap in a more favorable position. He did not clarify which contract but did say that it might be a player with trade protection.
That list includes Seguin, Jamie Benn, Joe Pavelski, Alexander Radulov, and Ben Bishop who all have trade protection of some sort.
