Will Panthers Win Over Oilers Led to Another Gear Offensively?
The Florida Panthers finally found their scoring touch in an epic Stanley Cup Final rematch on Monday night.
Monday night featured one of the most anticipated games of the year as the Florida Panthers visited Edmonton for an epic rematch of the 2024 Stanley Cup Final. Heading into the game, questions loomed over the status of Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov, who was ultimately ruled out as a game-time decision. Despite Barkov’s absence, the Panthers rediscovered their offense and secured a crucial victory, proving the haven’t lost their scoring touch.
Panthers Conquer Recent Struggles
Heading into Monday’s game, the Panthers had scored just one goal over their previous three outings, a concerning stretch for a team eyeing back-to-back championships. Considering the team was playing an offensively potent Oilers roster, it looked iffy for Florida, who had been shut out in their last two games.
Momentum shifted quickly in Edmonton, thanks to an early shorthanded goal from Jesper Boqvist that gave the Panthers a much-needed spark. However, the game itself proved to be an emotional rollercoaster. Both teams traded goals quickly, with the Oilers holding the lead after two periods.
The Panthers roared back in the third, delivering a dominant performance capped by Carter Verhaeghe’s goal in a three-goal period that secured the win. Florida’s offense finally came alive, showcasing the firepower that makes them one of the NHL’s elite teams.
This game could be the turning point the Panthers needed to reignite their championship aspirations.
Offense Leading the Way for the Panthers
Looking at the game results, scoring goals has not been an issue this season (other than their recent struggle).
In the past two months, there has rarely been an instance where the Panthers do not score more than three goals a game. Yes, they have those bad games where the offense cannot get anything going, but they always bounce back.

Sam Reinhart has been the leader of this category as he picks up where he left off last season, leading the team in points. Matthew Tkachuk has not slowed down either, still being a pain to play against. However, there is one player who has broken out this season, serving as a crucial piece to the Florida Panthers.
Anton Lundell has had an exceptional season so far, currently having 22 points in 32 games played. Last season he only had 35 points in 78 games played. He has taken a massive stride forward and remains a key piece to the Florida Panthers’ future.
The Florida Panthers face the St. Louis Blues on Friday.
