Oilers Sign Colton Dach to New 2-Year Deal

The Edmonton Oilers have locked up forward Colton Dach on a two-year deal carrying a $1.2 million cap hit.

The Edmonton Oilers have locked up forward Colton Dach on a two-year deal carrying a $1.2 million cap hit. The 23-year-old was brought in from the Chicago Blackhawks at last season’s trade deadline and went on to play 61 games in 2025–26, posting five goals and eight assists while adding a physical edge with 52 penalty minutes.

Dach made his debut with Edmonton on March 6 and chipped in four points over his final eight regular-season games. He also appeared in five playoff contests, recording one assist while averaging just over eight minutes per game.

A former second-round pick in 2021, Dach made his presence felt physically, racking up 219 hits—good for top-15 in the NHL—despite playing fewer games than most players in that range. His combination of size and physical play gives the Oilers added depth heading into next season.

Bob Stauffer writes, “IMO fair deal for both sides. Colton Dach has an opportunity to grow with the @EdmontonOilers Big, not timid, has some skill. Played mostly wing at the NHL level, but has played a lot of center at different levels. Will be an interesting player to watch this season.”

Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 adds: “Potential to be an excellent value contract. Young player with lots of upside. Physical, skates well and has sneaky good hands around the net. His tenacity is much needed on the Oilers’ roster.”
