New Oilers’ Forward Feels the Standard “Unlike Anywhere I’ve Been”

Jack Roslovic opened up after scoring the OT winner, calling the Oilers’ locker room the most unified group he’s ever been part of.

Jack Roslovic has been around the league long enough to recognize when something feels different. After scoring the overtime winner in the Oilers’ gutsy 5–4 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets, he didn’t spend much time talking about the goal itself. Instead, he talked about the group — and what it’s like to be part of this locker room.

Roslovic, who’s played for multiple NHL teams, admitted the culture in Edmonton stands out. “The way the guys control the locker room is unlike I’ve seen anywhere else,” he said. “It’s really fun — everyone feels like they’re pulling the rope together.” For a player who’s bounced between organizations, that kind of connection isn’t something he takes for granted.

The Oilers didn’t play a perfect game. Their second period was rough, their defensive coverage was sloppy at times, and yet they found a way. Roslovic called it part of the process — learning to win even when things aren’t clean. “You work on comebacks, you work on holding leads… you create muscle memory, you create scar tissue,” he said. “That’s how you know you can do things.”

Jack Roslovic says the standard set by the Oilers feels different

It’s the kind of perspective that fits perfectly into a team that’s still figuring out how to blend talent with toughness. The fight, the pushback, the resilience — all of it mattered more than the stat line. For Roslovic, it wasn’t about one big play or one night in November. It was about a standard.

“That’s what makes this room special,” he said. “We create that standard every day, and you know we want to keep on pushing and getting better. Obviously, there are times when you know you’re going to fall behind the way, but you know it’s just getting back on the horse and doing things like we did tonight.”
