NHL Trades and Rumors
Multiple Maple Leafs Players To Be Held Out for Wednesday Game
The Toronto Maple Leafs are scratching three key players linked to deadline deals from the lineup ahead of tonight’s clash with the Devils.
A couple of hours ago, Maple Leafs coach Craig Berube said they will not hold players out for their game against the Devils. Yet, the Maple Leafs posted to X that multiple players will not be dressing for Wednesday’s game.
Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Scott Laughton, and Bobby McMann will be in the press box for the game in New Jersey. All of these names have been linked to trade rumours over the last month, which suggests at least some of them could become reality.
Oliver Ekman-Larsson has played all of the Maple Leafs 61 games this seasaon putting up eight goals and 27 assists. He has been linked to many teams, including the Edmonton Oilers, though that seems less likely as a trade partner with the Oilers adding Connor Murphy on Monday.

Laughton, the 31-year-old from Oakville, Ontario, has put up 16 points in his 63 games with the Maple Leafs. The forward has made it clear he would love to stay with the club.
“I think obviously I’ve loved it here, and I loved my time, and that’s all I can really control. I don’t get in the converssations to much. So, I’m a Leaf, and that’s where I want to be, and we’ll see where it goes,” Laughton via Arun Srinvasan.
McMann Extension is Looking Less Likely
Whether Bobby McMann was traded or not was really up in the air over the past few weeks. The situation was very fluid as insiders noted that he leafs were looking at an extension as much as trades. But on First Up earlier today, Darren Dregger said that the extension was probably not on the table and that he was more likely to get dealt.
The Leafs will take on the New Jersey Devils tonight as the first game of a back-to-back. With the players being held out, I would guess we might see some new faces in or out of the lineup very soon.
