Maple Leafs Trade Brandon Carlo To St. Louis Blues for Two Picks
Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Brnadon Carlo has been traed to the St. Louis Blues for two third-round picks.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are reportedly working on a trade that would send defenseman Brandon Carlo to the St. Louis Blues. The news comes from ESPN insider Kevin Weekes. Elliotte Friedman confirmed the trade, saying the return is two third-round picks.
The picks are #73 and #76 in the 2026 draft.
Carlo spent about a year and a half with the Maple Leafs. He was acquired at a previous trade deadline, but didn’t pan out with the Maple Leafs as they had hoped. Foot speed and injuries were a part of his run in Toronto, and as the Maple Leafs made changes to their blue line this offseason, it became clear that Carlo’s future was unclear.
Carlo was not going to be part of the Leafs’ long-term plans. It’s no surprise that they chose to move on. Getting two picks in the draft isn’t a terrible return, but when you consider what they gave up to get him, it’s a huge loss. From a Toronto perspective, the Carlo trade will go down as a huge mistake. On March 7, 2025, the Leafs acquired Brandon Carlo and the Bruins got Fraser Minten, a 2026 1st Round Pick, 2025 4th Round Pick (Vashek Blanar).
The silver lining is that the Maple Leafs gain cap space in the trade.

The Blues have been active on draft weekend. They added center Mason McTavish from the Anaheim Ducks in a trade on Friday. That means they’ve moved two firsts and two thirds so far as they try to add roster players who can help them next season.
