Lightning Sign Nick Paul to 7-Yr Extension
The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed Nick Paul to a seven-year contract extension worth over $22 million.
The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed forward Nick Paul to a seven-year extension worth $22 million. As Darren Dreger of TSN reports, ”Clearly the Lightning and Nick Paul see the perfect fit. 7 Year term and just over $3 million per year aav. Great deal for both.”
Essentially, this is a long contract that kept the number in a manageable cap range for the organization. At the same time, Paul gets the security that comes with playing for a top organization in a no-tax state.
Paul joined the Lightning last season ahead of the trade deadline. He was dealt by the Ottawa Senators and was considered a great depth addition. He’s a solid bottom six forward who might have more to give offensively. Should he, this deal will be considered a bargain.
He’s also known as someone who is really good in the room and well liked by his teammates.
Could Paul become a 40-50 point guy? He impacts other areas of the game so it might not matter, but he will be an intriguing player to watch.
