Blackhawks Trade Rights to College Prospect to the Tampa Bay Lightning

The Blackhawks trade Jack Pridham to the Lightning for a third-round pick. Discover what this means for both teams in the NHL.

The Tampa Bay Lightning announced on Monday that they have acquired the rights to forward Jack Pridham from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft. Pridham is a big, powerful 6’2″, 185 lbs right-shot winger known for his speed, strong north-south game, edge work, and high motor. He’s described as a dynamic scorer with good offensive instincts.

Pridham is committed to play in the NCAA next season with the school expected to be announced in the coming days. They’ll maintain his rights since he has committed to the NCAA. The Blackhawks will lose the rights to Pridham, the OHL’s second-leading goal scorer, and he will re-enter the NHL draft if he doesn’t sign an ELC or officially commit to a college by Monday.

Pridham, 20, had a breakout OHL season with 46 goals and 90 points in 65 games for Kitchener, adding 17 playoff points and starring in the Memorial Cup win. The Chicago draft pick (92nd overall, 2024) has 73 goals and 144 points in 113 career OHL games.

In short, he’s a legitimate NHL prospect who just had a championship junior season and will be one of the more intriguing names to watch in Tampa Bay.
