Blackhawks and Sabres Finalizing Trade for Malcolm Subban

Reports are that the Chicago Blackhawks and Buffalo Sabres are finalizing a trade that would see the Sabres acquire goaltender Malcolm Subban.

According to Elliotte Friedman, the Buffalo Sabres and Chicago Blackhawks are apparently talking about the possibility of a trade that would send goaltender Malcolm Subban from the Blackhawks to the Sabres. The Sabres have been rumored to be on the market for a goaltender for some time.

While Subban isn’t considered an NHL starter and he hasn’t played a game for the Blackhawks yet this season, he’s potentially an upgrade over what the Sabres currently have. He was drafted by the Boston Bruins in round 1 at #24 overall in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

Buffalo has been looking for a goalie for ages and the team has been connected to Matt Murray and other available netminders throughout the year.

Kevin Weekes is actually reporting that the trade is being completed. It’s not clear what the return is yet. We’ll update this story as we learn more.
